Hypertext System
The software and associated data files obtained collectively as
farVIEW (tm) and farVIEW/S - the shareware version of farVIEW - are
copyright 1988-1991, Paul J Medlock.
This is farVIEW/S, the shareware version of farVIEW. Please try it,
learn enough about it that you can fairly evaluate it, then, if it
can be of continuing value to you, please register your use. You will
find a order form in the file ORDER.FRM. If this shareware version
prompts you to purchase a commercial version of farVIEW, however,
feel free to ignore this plea. You can use the same order form in
ORDER.FRM.
You may distribute the shareware version of farVIEW (farVIEW/S) to
others. Be sure that you include at least the entire farVIEW/S
release file FARVIEW.ZIP, since it comprises the distribution, and
that you charge no more than a nominal fee (not to exceed $10) in
distributing the software.

DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before
buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue using it, you
are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details -
some request registration while others require it, some specify a
maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the
simple right to continue using the software to an updated program
with printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both shareware and commercial software, and
the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
exceptions as stated below. The main difference between shareware
and commercial software is in the method of distribution. The
shareware author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute
the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For
example, some authors require written permission before a commercial
disk vendor may copy their shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You
should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether
it's commercial or shareware. The shareware system makes fitting your
needs easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the
overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate
money-back guarantee - if you don't use the product, you don't pay
for it.

DISCLAIMER - AGREEMENT
Users of farVIEW/S must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"farVIEW/S is supplied as is. farSight hereby disclaims all
warranties relating to this software, whether express or implied,
including without limitation any implied warranties of
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. farSight will
not be liable for any special, incidental, consequential, direct,
indirect or similar damages due to loss of data or any other
reason, even if farSight or an agent of farSight has been advised
of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall farSight's
liability for any damages ever exceed the price paid for the
license to use the software, regardless of the form of the claim.
The person using the software bears all risk as to the quality and
performance of the software."
farVIEW/S is provided to the user for evaluation at no charge. Feel
free to share it with your friends, but please do not give it away
altered or as part of another system. The essence of "user-supported"
software is to provide personal computer users with quality software
without high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to
continue to develop new products.
If you find this program useful and find that you are using farVIEW/S
and continue to use farVIEW/S after a reasonable trial period, you
must make a registration payment of $45 to farSight Technologies,
Inc. The $45 registration fee will license one copy for use on any
one computer at any one time. You must treat this software just like
a book. In other words, this software may be used by any number of
people and may be freely moved from one computer location to another,
so long as there is no possibility of it being used at one location
while it's being used at another. Just as a book cannot be read by
two different persons at the same time.
Commercial users of farVIEW/S must register and pay for their copies
of farVIEW/S within 30 days of first use or their license is
withdrawn. We suggest that commercial users purchase the commercial
network version of farVIEW, which supports networks that use the DOS
SHARE program for file share protection, and includes royalty-free
use of a network browse version of farVIEW on your network. Site
license arrangements of any version may be made by contacting
farSight Technologies, Inc. The browser can also be licensed to
accompany general distribution of textbases.
Government users of farVIEW/S must adher to the following rules:
Use, duplication, or disclosure by the U.S. Government of the
computer software and documentation in this package shall be
subject to the restricted rights applicable to commercial computer
software as set forth in subdivision (b)(3)(ii) of the Rights in
Technical Data and Computer Software clause at 252.227-7013
(DFARS 52.227-7013). The manufacturer of farVIEW/S is farSight
Technologies, Inc., 3831 Echodale Ave, Baltimore, MD 21206.
Anyone distributing farVIEW/S for any kind of remuneration must first
contact farSight Technologies, Inc. at the address below for
authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted to
distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
farVIEW/S immediately (However farSight Technologies, Inc. must still
be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the
latest version of farVIEW/S).
You are encouraged to pass a copy of farVIEW/S along to your friends,
or to members of your computer-interest group for evaluation. Please
encourage them to register their copy if they find that they can use
it. Users who register will receive a copy of the latest version of
the farVIEW/S system along with the printed manual.
This agreement shall be construed and enforced in accordance with the
laws of the STATE OF MARYLAND. Any action or proceeding brought by
either party against the other arising out of or related to this
agreement shall be brought only in a STATE or FEDERAL COURT of
competent jurisdiction located in Baltimore city, Maryland. The
parties hereby consent to in personam jurisdiction of said courts.
